Laughing Gull Foundation (LGF) is searching for our next Executive Director,nand we would love your help. Please share this announcement with anyone you think could make a great candidate.
After making incredible contributions to LGF, it is time for Hez Norton to move on. Hez joined the LGF Team in 2017 with a one-year commitment as our Interim Executive Director. Once we all realized what a wonderful fit Hez was, the LGF Board asked Hez to transition to the ED role and stay with us for asnlong as would work for them. We are so grateful to have benefitted from Hez’s compassionate leadership for the last four years.
Hez gracefully led LGF through the transition from family/board run to a full professional staff. They championed racial equity at all levels of the organization, leading us to more explicit racial equity commitments in our vision and mission, grantmaking, and internal operations. Hez shepherded the launch of LGF’s third grantmaking program focused on Climate and Environment, and made significant contributions to our Higher Education in Prison program. Hez also used their organizational development background to create a Capacity Building Fund as well as a Pivot Fund in 2020 to help LGF address both the racial justice reckoning and the pandemic.
Hez will step down from the LGF ED role in early 2022. We will miss them dearly, and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in their next
chapter. We are also excited to find our next leader! This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to play a key role in progressive philanthropy in the South.
LGF seeks a dynamic, engaging leader who can build on our vision for supporting grantee-led social and environmental change in the South. All of our work is underscored by a strong commitment to racial justice, and we seek a leader with experience in philanthropic actualization of this commitment. LGF is poised for deep impact in the years ahead.
